I often get asked by incoming students about the safety of Baltimore. π
I totally understand your concerns, itβs a new city, and youβre stepping into the unknown. Instead of throwing statistics at you, let me share my personal experience.
π My Time in Baltimore: The Reality
So far, my experience has been absolutely amazing! I live about 2 miles from campus, and frequently walk to and from university. πΆββοΈ
Would I recommend this to everyone? Not necessarily. But I hope my experience reassures you that Baltimore isn’t as scary as some people make it out to be. The people are friendly and generally keep to themselves.
β οΈ Safety Tips: What You Need to Know
Like any big city, there are areas you should avoid at certain times.
But this isnβt just a Baltimore thing, itβs true for many places worldwide.
β Tips for Staying Safe:
- Stick to your routine, and well-lit paths.
- Respect others, and they will respect you.
- Be aware of your surroundings, especially at night.
- If youβre ever in doubt, Uber/Lyft is your friend.
Follow these, and youβll be just fine. π

Absolutely not! Donβt let fear hold you back from an amazing university experience. π«
Baltimore has a lot to offer, great food, culture, and incredible learning opportunities. If you take the right precautions, your experience can be just as positive as mine.
